Do You Know Jesus?

We at Wet Feet hope to encourage our readers in their relationship with Jesus. It is that close personal relationship that gives us hope and strength to face the challenges of everyday life. Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? If not, we would like to invite you to know Him as we do.

The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. We all need the salvation offered through faith in Jesus. If you’ve ever been around a small child, you know that we can’t even make it to preschool without telling a lie. (“No, I don’t have to go potty!”; “It wasn’t me, he did it.”)

The good news is – we can be changed! God did not leave us stuck in our sinful nature. He provided a way for us to receive forgiveness and overcome the sin in our life. Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” And Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

So how do we make that change? How do we get from “death” to “eternal life”? Romans 2:4 tells us that “God’s kindness leads you toward repentance”. The fact that you are here today, reading this, is because God is leading you towards making that change.

It is not complicated. God only asks that: 1. Believe Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection as the Son of God.  2. We recognize and admit our sinfulness and need to be forgiven. 3. Confess our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and ask to receive forgiveness for our sin.

Romans 10:9-10 promises “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

It doesn’t matter who you are or how much of a mess your life is in right now. God promises that  “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”(Romans 10:13)

If you would like to do this right now, simply offer your own heart felt prayer, or you may use the following written prayer, prayed with a sincere heart.
Dear God, I believe that Jesus is Your Son and that He died and was raised from the dead. Because I have sinned and need forgiveness, I ask Jesus to save me. I am willing to change the direction of my life by acknowledging Jesus as my Savior and Lord and by turning away from my sins. Thank you for giving me forgiveness, eternal life and hope. In Jesus name, amen.

If you have done this, welcome to the family, you are now a child of God! Tell someone! Leave us a comment! Romans 8:38-39 promises that “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” You are His child forever. If you don’t already have a church you attend, find one and attend this Sunday. It is important to be with other believers who can help you grow and learn. May God bless you in this new life as His child.
